The Key of D
When D is taken as the key note or starting point of the scale, it becomes necessary to retain the F sharp used in the key of G and to add C sharp, in order to bring the steps and half steps inthe proper order. The important thing to remember in this key, therefore, is that every F and C is sharped. In the following Scale Study the new sharp is indicated in parenthesis. The Technical Study is to be thoroughly practiced and played at a lively pace, particular attention being- paid to the use of the fourth finger. The two sharps at the beginning of the staff are the sign or signature of the key of D. Speed is attained by thinking in groups, rather than in single notes. |
